The Text Profiler is an early version of part of a project that L2 is working on to develop WORDREADY2.0 Academic English. WORDREADY2.0 Academic English is designed for learners planning to or already studying at an English-speaking University, and acts as their personal vocabulary tutor. Selecting, presenting, extending, revising and consolidating vocabulary, using state of the art technology and current research findings in vocabulary learning and foreign language acquisition.

Using text analysis from L2's databases and UCREL at Lancaster University. Dictionary entries are from the Cambridge Advanced Learner Dictionary.

Tag clouds will be used to display the relative frequency of different forms and parts of speech (based on data from the British National Corpus).

Tried and tested exercise formats and combinations will be used to allow learners to practise the words they are learning in different contexts as their knowledge of the word increases. WORDREADY2.0 Academic English is designed to provide learners with a depth of knowledge over time, avoiding the data overload often experienced by learners who use dictionaries, and managing it all for the learners.
